Jordie Benn Signs PTO With Former Team
Veteran defenseman Jordie Benn has signed a professional tryout contract with his former team, the Dallas Stars.
Benn began his NHL career with the Stars back in 2011-12 and played six seasons with the club, scoring 11 goals and posting 71 points in 302 games. Now, in 2023-24, he will be aiming to earn a contract with the Stars with a strong training camp.
The Stars could use some defensive depth, so it makes sense that they are looking at Benn. He works well as a seventh defenseman, as he plays a steady defensive game and chips in with plenty of physicality.
Benn appeared in 12 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, posting one goal, one assist, and 31 hits.
It will be intriguing to see if Benn can earn a deal from the Stars before the start of the 2023-24 season from here. On a league-minimum deal, he could be worth it for Dallas.
