Montreal Canadiens Rumors: 2 Potential Landing Spots for Casey DeSmith

Although Casey DeSmith was recently traded to the Montreal Canadiens, it seems likely that he will be dealt before the start of the season due to their surplus of netminders and lack of an introduction for him. Thus, let's discuss two teams who could consider bringing him in before the start of the season.

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Tampa Bay Lightning certainly could use another goalie before the start of the season. Jonas Johansson is expected to be their backup goalie as it stands, and he is more of an AHL netminder. Thus, with DeSmith available, the Lightning could bring him in as a clear upgrade for the backup spot.

St. Louis Blues: The St. Louis Blues could also consider taking a chance on DeSmith. Rookie Joel Hofer is currently expected to be their backup, it would not hurt for them to add a veteran like DeSmith for insurance if the former does not seem ready for the NHL. Thus, look for St. Louis to consider bringing him in.

We will need to wait and see if either of these clubs end up acquiring DeSmith from here.
