Montreal Canadiens Rumors: Joel Armia Becoming Trade Candidate

The Montreal Canadiens have been quite busy, and it appears that they are not done just yet. The Canadiens are also hoping to find a new home for Joel Armia.

Armia carries a $3.4 million cap hit until the completion of the 2024-25 season, so it makes sense that the Canadiens are hoping to find a suitor for him. However, it is also apparent that his cap hit is quite hefty for a bottom-six forward. Thus, moving him is certainly not going to be an easy task for the Original Six club.

Armia appeared in 43 games this past season for the Canadiens, where he posted seven goals to go along with seven assists and a minus-7 rating. It was a fairly quiet year from the 30-year-old winger, and he will be aiming to have a bounce-back season in 2023-24, whether that is with the Canadiens or elsewhere.

We will need to wait and see if the Canadiens end up moving Armia before the start of the season from here. One team who could make sense as a possible landing spot for them is the Anaheim Ducks, as they have a ton of cap space.
