Nashville Predators Sign Goalie to PTO
The Nashville Predators have signed goaltender Dylan Wells to a professional tryout contract.
Wells appeared in his first NHL game last season with the Chicago Blackhawks, making 12 saves on 13 shots. However, he primarily played in the AHL and ECHL, spending time with the Idaho Steelheads, Rockford IceHogs, and the Texas Stars.
Wells is unlikely to consideration for an NHL spot with the Predators, as they have Juuse Saros and Kevin Lankinen as their two netminders. However, if he has a strong camp, he certainly should be in the running for a spot for their AHL club.
In the end, there is no harm in the Predators taking a look at Wells. At best, he will give them a decent depth goalie if signed. At worst, they will simply release him during camp and lose nothing. It will be interesting to see if Wells ends up earning himself a contract of some kind with the Predators from here.
