NHL Rumors: 2 Possible Free-Agent Destinations for Caleb Jones

One week into August, defenseman Caleb Jones is still a free agent. However, when noting that he is a serviceable bottom-pairing defenseman while playing at his best, he should be able to land a cheap one-year deal before the start of the 2023-24 season. Let's discuss two teams who could consider bringing him in now.

Los Angeles Kings: The Los Angeles Kings stand out as a team who could make sense as a landing spot for Jones. The depth on the left side of their defensive group is not particularly strong, and it could lead to Jones being a decent bottom-pairing option for them. At a minimum, he would compete with Tobia Bjornfot for a spot if signed by Los Angeles.

Anaheim Ducks: The Anaheim Ducks could also be a solid free-agent destination for Jones. The Ducks are in a position to spend money before the start of the season, as they have a lot of cap space. With that, the left side of their defensive group is rather weak, and Jones would have a chance of being a regular in their lineup because of it.

We will need to wait and see if one of these two clubs ends up bringing in Jones before the start of the season from here.
