NHL Rumors: Jaroslav Halak Becoming Possible Target for Contender

In a recent interview with Tomas Prokop of Dennik Sport, Jaroslav Halak said that he is not interested in being a third-string goaltender and is aiming to sign a deal with a team who will make him their backup. Due to this, one club that is standing out as a prime potential landing for Halak is the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After parting ways with Brian Elliott this offseason, the Lightning brought in Jonas Johansson. However, when noting that Johansson has spent the majority of his career in the AHL, the Lightning could certainly use an upgrade at the backup position. Halak would give them just that.

Halak, 38, spent this past season with the New York Rangers, where he posted a 10-9-0 record, a 2.72 GAA, and a .903 SV% in 25 appearances.

Halak is looking to continue his career, as he is just five wins away from reaching the 300-win milestone. Let's see if the Lightning end up giving him the chance to do just that before the start begins from here.
