NHL Rumors: New Team Linked To Canucks In Trade Talks

Recent NHL trade rumors are swirling around Columbus Blue Jackets' interest in Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers.

The Canucks are facing a salary cap challenge, sitting over $4 million above the cap limit, and may consider trading Myers after September 1, following his $5 million signing bonus payout.

Finding a trade partner willing to take on Myers' $6 million salary cap hit seems challenging, but the Blue Jackets appear to be open to exploring the possibility.

Some potential scenarios involve trading Myers to alleviate the Canucks' cap issues, possibly including a package deal with players such as Anthony Beauvillier and Andrew Peeke.

Beauvillier was solid after being acquired from the New York Islanders by the Canucks last season in the Bo Horvat trade, recording nine goals and 20 points over 33 games with his new team, exactly the total he had put up the previous 49 games with the Islanders.

Peeke, known for his role as a stay-at-home defenseman, scored just six goals and 13 points across 80 games, with an atrocious -41 plus/minus rating last season with Columbus.

As discussions unfold, fan reactions are mixed on both sides. Canucks fans are divided, with some seeing the necessity of moving Myers to create cap space, while others are concerned about losing his defensive contributions.

Only time will tell if this potential trade will come to fruition, and fans on both sides will eagerly await any official updates as the season approaches.  Photo Credit: Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports
