NHL Rumors: Tomas Tatar Linked to New Team

The Pittsburgh Penguins just made a major addition, as they acquired Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks. Yet, they also managed to free up over $3 million of cap space in the process. Due to this, they could look to add another winger before the start of the season, and Tomas Tatar stands out as a prime target for them.

The Penguins parted ways with Mikael Granlund in the Karlsson trade, and now there is a spot in their top nine potentially available because of it. This remains the case even after they acquired Rem Pitlick from the Montreal Canadiens in the deal. With that, Tatar is not expected to land a big contract this late into the summer, so the Penguins could get him signed to a steal of a deal.

Tatar would be a nice addition to the Penguins' middle six if signed, as he would give them more secondary scoring. In 82 games this past season with the New Jersey Devils, he posted 20 goals to go along with 48 points.

We will need to wait and see if the Penguins end up signing Tatar before the start of the season, but there seems to be a good match here on paper.
