Penguins Rumors: Tomas Tatar to Pittsburgh Heating Up

In a recent Sportsnet Central segment, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said that he believes that the Pittsburgh Penguins could go after Tomas Tatar in free agency.

We recently discussed the Penguins' potential interest in Tatar following the Erik Karlsson trade, and now the possibility is starting to pick up more steam from Friedman's report. After trading Mikael Granlund, the Penguins do have a potential spot in their top nine up for grabs, and it would make sense for them to bring in Tatar on a cheap deal because of it.

Tatar is coming off of a solid season with the New Jersey Devils that saw him post 20 goals to go along with 48 points. The Penguins would love to add that kind of production to their top nine. With that, Tatar would also be a big addition to their power play because of his high offensive IQ.

We will need to wait and see if the Penguins and Tatar end up reaching a deal before the start of the season, but there is a precise match between the two parties, at least on paper.
