Philadelphia Flyers Provide Updates On 3 Notable Players

Philadelphia Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones provided updates on Sean Couturier, Cam Atkinson, and Ryan Ellis. Couturier and Atkinson are expected to be ready for training camp, while Ellis, unfortunately, is unlikely to ever resume his playing career due to a torn psoas muscle in his back.

Couturier has not played since December 2021, so hearing that he should be good to go for training camp is simply excellent news. The 30-year-old is an extremely important part of the Flyers' roster, and it is going to be excellent to see him return to action. During the 2021-22 season, he posted six goals and 17 points in 29 games played.

Atkinson also missed the entirety of last season due to injury. The 34-year-old is one of the Flyers' top scorers, so him returning to the lineup is also good news for them. In 73 games during the 2021-22 season with Philadelphia, he posted 23 goals and 50 points.

This update on Ellis was expected, but it still is rough to hear. The 32-year-old only played in four games during the 2021-22 season and missed all of this past season. In his four games as a Flyer, Ellis had one goal and five points.
