Rangers Rumors: Alexis Lafreniere Provides Update on Contract Talks

While speaking with Simon-Olivier Lorange of La Presse, Alexis Lafreniere noted that contract talks between him and the New York Rangers are still ongoing and that he hopes to have a new contract finalized within the next few weeks.

Lafreniere is one of the most notable RFAs still without a deal, but if he has it his way, he will not be for too much longer.

Lafreniere has yet to become the star that many believe he can be at this stage of his career, but he is still just 21 years old and is playing for a very deep Rangers club. Due to this, there is an expectation that he will sign a bridge deal rather than a multi-year pact.

Lafreniere is coming off of the best season of his three-year career, posting 16 goals to go along with a career-high 39 points in 81 games. He is a breakout candidate for the 2023-24 season, but first, we will need to wait and see what his next deal will be.
