Rangers Rumors: New York Looking to Lock Up Ryan Lindgren

According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the New York Rangers are likely to try to sign defenseman Ryan Lindgren to a long-term, low-AAV contract extension. He also noted that if they are not close on a deal, they may look to trade him.

Lindgren has emerged as a big piece of the Rangers' blueline over the last few seasons, so it makes sense that they want to lock him up for a long time. The 25-year-old is a strong shutdown defenseman who works beautifully on the top pairing with Adam Fox. Due to this, they would much rather keep him around than move him.

Lindgren appeared in 63 games this past season for the Blueshirts, where he posted one goal, 18 points, and a plus-29 rating. It was another strong year from the Minnesota native, and he will be aiming to build off of it in 2023-24 from here.

Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if the Rangers can successfully ink Lindgren to a long-term contract extension soon. If not, don't be surprised if trade rumors start to increase rather noticeably around him.
