St. Louis Blues Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

The St. Louis Blues are looking to free up some cap space before the start of the season. As a result of this, Marco Scandella is starting to emerge as a clear trade candidate.

Scandella carries a $3.275 million cap hit until the end of this season, so there could be some rebuilding teams willing to take it on if it means adding a sweetener in the process. It is also important to note that Scandella has a seven-team no-trade list, so he does have some control over where he could end up being moved.

Scandella was limited to only 20 games this past season with the Blues, where he posted one goal, one assist, and a plus-2 rating. It was a frustrating year for the 32-year-old defenseman, and he will be looking to make a bigger impact during the 2023-24 campaign, whether that is with the Blues or elsewhere.

We will need to wait and see if the Blues can successfully find a way to trade Scandella before the start of the season from here. Some possible landing spots include the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, and San Jose Sharks.
