Tampa Bay Lightning Sign Brandon Hagel to Big Extension

The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a big move, signing winger Brandon Hagel to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension ($6.5 million AAV). It will begin during the 2024-25 season.

Hagel is entering the final season of his current deal, carrying a bargain $1.5 million cap hit. However, after this season, he will be getting his big raise, and the skilled forward has certainly earned it.

Hagel is coming off of a strong 2022-23 season with the Lightning, posting 30 goals, 64 points, and a plus-23 rating - all new career highs. Now, the 24-year-old will be aiming to build off of his excellent season with his new extension in place.

Hagel will now be a part of the Lightning's core for several years to come. When noting that he is still 24 years old, this deal has the potential to be a very good one if he continues to improve during his prime years.
