Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Easton Cowan
The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed prospect Easton Cowan to an entry-level contract.
The Maple Leafs selected Cowan with the 28th overall pick of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and they understandably have a lot of confidence in him. The 18-year-old spent this past season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, where he posted 20 goals to go along with 53 points. He will now be aiming to put up similar totals for them in 2023-24 from here.
Cowan is likely a few years away from being ready for the NHL, but that is not a bad thing when noting that the Maple Leafs have a deep forward group. As a result, there is no need for them to rush his development.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see how good of a season Cowan can put together during the 2023-24 campaign from here. Time will tell what happens on that front.
