3 Arizona Coyotes Captain Candidates
At the time of this writing, there are nine teams currently without captains for the 2023-24 season. As a result of this, over the next few days, we here at NHLTR will be starting a mini-series going over three captain candidates for each of these clubs.
In this second edition of the series, let's focus on the Arizona Coyotes.
Clayton Keller: Clayton Keller is the heart of the Coyotes roster. He is also their most skilled player by a large margin. Due to this, he surely needs to be considered for the captaincy. He also openly stated his loyalty to the club this summer, so that naturally should help his chances.
Lawson Crouse: Lawson Crouse is another Coyote who would make sense for the 'C.' The power forward is extremely hard-working and provides a nice blend of physicality and skill in a middle-six role. With that, he also inked a long-term deal with the team during their rebuild, so he's another guy who believes in the process.
Nick Schmaltz: Nick Schmaltz would also be a fine choice for captain. The skilled forward has quietly become a star over the last few seasons and is one of the team's top leaders.
