3 Players Stars Could Trade Next

The Dallas Stars look deep and very strong this season after a couple underrated offseason additions. While they have a lot of talent, they will likely be needing to upgrade at the trade deadline and also free up some cap space being used by potentially unwanted pieces. Let's take a look at the next player this team could trade.

Ryan Suter

Ryan Suter is slowing down and it is pretty clear. He's still slotted in the top-four of the Stars, but I don't think that he makes it to the end of his contract that goes through 2024-25. The 38-year-old still has two years left at $3.65 million AAV and if he's not as effective, this contender will have to move his salary. It would be better for them to trade him rather than buying him out.

Radek Faksa

The Stars have been dealing with Radek Faksa on the fourth line for a while now. While he has moved up and played a bit on the third line more recently, he is definitely their fourth line center this season after the addition of Matt Duchene. Faksa is solid defensively, but the Stars, who are close to the cap, are paying him $3.25 million AAV for two more seasons. By the end of next offseason, this contract has to be cleared out like Denis Gurianov's was last trade deadline.

Evgenii Dadonov

Evgenii Dadonov doesn't have a bad contract at all, but with his questionable play at times, I could see things going south in a hurry at a point down the line. If this happens, his cap hit will be fairly easy to move since it is just $2.25 million AAV for two more seasons. While he's done well with the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Stars (once acquired at the deadline last season), he has also struggled a lot with the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens. The hope is that his two years go smoothly in Dallas, but things could always turn on a dime.
