Adam Erne Signs PTO With Pacific Team
The Edmonton Oilers have made a minor move, signing Adam Erne to a professional tryout contract.
Erne spent the 2022-23 with the Detroit Red Wings organization. He had eight goals, 10 assists, and a minus-12 rating in 61 games played for Detroit. He also saw time in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Grand Rapids Griffins. In nine games with the AHLsquad, he recorded five assists.
Erne has the potential to be a decent depth forward for the Oilers if signed, but his chances of being a regular in their lineup may not be the highest. However, if signed to a cheap two-way deal, this could be an avenue the Oilers are willing to consider.
The Oilers have been quite active with PTOs this offseason, as they have signed Brandon Sutter, Sam Gagner, and now Erne to one. Time will tell if anyone from this trio lands a contract from them before the start of the season.
