Anaheim Ducks Sign High-Scoring Defense Prospect

The Anaheim Ducks have officially added another exciting top prospect to the system, signing their 2022 second-round pick Tristan Luneau to an entry-level deal.

It's a three-year ELC for the high-scoring 19-year-old defenseman out of the QMJHL. Luneau racked up 20 goals and 63 assists for 83 points in 65 games for the Gatineau Olympiques in the Quebec junior league this past year and added another 17 points in 13 playoff games. Those standout stats earned him QMJHL Defenseman of the Year honors.

In fact, the Ducks prospect pipeline really shone all around this past season, as their blueline prospects took home D-Man of the year awards in the OHL and the WHL as well, for a clean sweep of the three CHL junior leagues.

Luneau was selected with the 53rd pick overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, and went out and showed his explosive offensive potential, boosting his point total in the Q from 43 points in his draft year, to this past year's 83 points as a Ducks draftee.

He'll likely spend one more season in junior, but then could be ready to join an exciting young Anaheim core.
