Armstrong has been the GM of the Coyotes for three seasons, and this extension shows that they are quite happy with the work he has done for them thus far. Overall, it is understandable, as he has helped secure them some excellent prospects and future assets.
This contract extension come at a time when the Coyotes are looking to become more competitive. Armstrong was quite busy this offseason, bringing in several free agents like Jason Zucker, Matt Dumba, Nick Bjugstad, and Alex Kerfoot. He also added an intriguing young defenseman in Sean Durzi.
It is going to be intriguing to see what other moves Armstrong makes with the Coyotes from here. He has them heading in the right direction, so let's see if they can move out of their rebuilding stage before his upcoming extension is complete.
