Calgary Flames: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is rapidly approaching, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this latest edition of the series, let's take a look at the Calgary Flames.

Best Addition: Yegor Sharangovich

The Flames had a very quiet offseason and barely made any additions. However, they did add an interesting forward in Yegor Sharangovich. Although he had a down year with the New Jersey Devils in 2022-23, he showed in the past that he can be a decent second-liner. Let's see if this move to Calgary gets him back on track.

Worst Subtraction: Tyler Toffoli

Although Sharangovich has the potential to be a solid addition, he does not make up for the loss of Tyler Toffoli. The return that the Flames received for their 2022-23 leading scorer was far too small, even if Sharangovich gets back to his old form. Replacing Toffoli is a tall ask, and the Flames are going to miss him a lot.
