Calgary Flames 'Jakob Pelletier Out Long Term

Some tough news out of Calgary as Flames young forward Jakob Pelletier will require surgery on his shoulder and is expected to be out multiple months.

Pelletier will go under the knife next week and the team hasn't put firm timelines on his return. The Flames forward was laid out during a preseason game against the Seattle Kraken after Marian Studenic lowered the boom.

The 22-year-old Pelletier was looking for a fresh start under Ryan Huska and was happy to move on from ex-coach Darryl Sutter who couldn't even remember him being in the lineup, even though he scored a goal. Sutter's handling of Pelletier was one of the many reasons several of the Flames veterans asked management to move on.

Last season Pelletier registered three goals and four assists with the Flames and another 37 points in 35 AHL games with the Calgary Wranglers.

The former first-round pick now will have to rehab his shoulder and look to make an impact sometime in 2024.
