Canadiens Rumors: Latest on Carey Price’s Playing Future
While recently speaking with reporters, Carey Price confirmed that his long-term knee injury will not allow him to continue his NHL career "barring a miracle."
Although this is not surprising news, Price said at the beginning of last season that he would still consider returning if his health improves. However, his knee injury is continuing to impact his day-to-day life, so a return to the NHL just is not in the cards.
Price missed all of the 2022-23 season and appeared in just five games with the Montreal Canadiens in 2021-22 due to his long-term injury.
Alas, Price had a spectacular career with the Canadiens. In 712 games over 15 seasons with the club, he posted a 361-261-79 record, a .917 SV%, and a 2.51 GAA. With that, he won the Ted Lindsay Award (2015), Hart Memorial Trophy (2015), Vezina Trophy (2015), William M. Jennings Trophy (2015), Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (2022), and was a seven-time All-Star.
