Colorado Avalanche: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is rapidly approaching, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this latest edition, let's focus on the Colorado Avalanche.

Best Addition: Ryan Johansen

The Avalanche brought in many solid players this offseason, including Tomas Tatar, Ross Colton, Jonathan Drouin, and Miles Wood. Yet, the addition of Ryan Johansen has the potential to be the most impactful. They needed a 2C badly, and when playing at his best, Johansen is just that.

Worst Subtraction: J.T. Compher

J.T. Compher had a breakout season for the Avalanche and filled in nicely as their 2C. However, instead of staying put, he banked on his breakout campaign in free agency and landed a sweet deal with the Detroit Red Wings. As a result, the Avalanche will miss his solid two-way play in their lineup.
