Columbus Blue Jackets: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason
The 2023-24 regular season is rapidly approaching, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.
In this latest edition, let's focus on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Best Addition: Adam Fantilli
The Blue Jackets made two big additions to their defensive group by adding Damon Severson and Ivan Provorov. However, they do not compare to the club taking top prospect Adam Fantilli in the first round. He has all of the tools to be a top-six forward as a rookie this season and should develop into a long-term star on their roster. Thus, he takes the cake as the club's top addition this summer.
Worst Subtraction: LA Kings' 2023 First-Round Pick
The Blue Jackets did not have any notable subtractions this offseason, at least with players. However, the 2023 LA Kings first-round pick they parted ways with for Provorov in the three-team trade was notable. Yet, with the Blue Jackets wanting to improve now, they were confident in moving a first, even after their horrendous 2022-23 season.
