Islanders Rumors: Former First-Rounder Could Be On the Move

In a recent article for The Athletic, Kevin Kurz listed Oliver Wahlstom as a player who the New York Islanders could trade during the 2023-24 season.

Kurz argued that if Wahlstrom can't stay in the lineup, it may be best to provide him with a change of scenery and noted that they could get another player in need of a fresh start for him.

Wahlstrom was selected with the 11th overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Islanders. He has yet to emerge as the top-six forward that they hoped he would, and if this does not change this upcoming season, perhaps a move would make sense for both parties.

In 35 games last season with the Islanders, Wahlstrom had seven goals to go along with 16 points. We will need to wait and see how he performs this season for New York and if he stays put or is dealt.
