Los Angeles Kings Sign Goalie to PTO

The Los Angeles Kings have signed goaltender Jean-Francois Berube to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

Berube spent last season with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL), posting a 8-6-3 record, a 3.22 goals-against average, and a .885 percentage. Overall, the veteran netminder struggled a bit, but now he will be looking to earn a contract from the Kings organization to bounce back.

Goalie insurance is something that the Kings need right now. Heading into the season, they have Cam Talbot, David Rittich, and Pheonix Copley as their NHL netminders. While Berube is unlikely to challenge for an NHL spot, it would be good to have an experienced goalie in the AHL if call-ups are ever needed.

Berube last played in the NHL during the 2021-22 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he had a 3-2-0 record to go along with a .900 SV%.

It will be interesting to see if Berube can land a contract with the Kings from here.
