NHL Rumors: 2 Possible Free-Agent Destinations for Danton Heinen

Forward Danton Heinen is still a free agent with the regular season one month away. When noting that he is a solid bottom-six forward who provides decent offense when playing at his best, he should be able to land at least a PTO before training camp. Let's discuss two teams who could consider adding him now.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Chicago Blackhawks would benefit by adding another forward to their group before the start of the season. Although they are rebuilding, they showed this summer that they hope to be more competitive in 2023-24 with Connor Bedard. Due to this, taking a chance on a forward like Heinen on a cheap one-year deal could make sense for them.

Buffalo Sabres: The Buffalo Sabres would also be wise to add another forward to their roster before the start of the season. Their bottom six could use a bit of a boost, and Heinen would give them that if he bounces back from his down 2022-23 season. Perhaps a PTO could be in the cards for him with the Sabres because of this.
