NHL Rumors: Josh Leivo Linked to New Team
According to Matthias Persson of Ornskoldsviks Allehanda, Modo Hockey of the SHL is trying to sign forward Josh Leivo before the start of their season.
Leivo, 30, spent last season with the St. Louis Blues, posting four goals to go along with 16 points. Overall, he handled himself fairly well in a depth role for the Blues, but it has not been enough for him to find a new NHL home this offseason. Now, it seems that we could see the veteran winger head overseas because of it.
If Leivo signs with Modo, he will immediately be a key forward on their roster. He has shown at the AHL level that he can be a top point-producer, and this would likely translate over to the SHL.
In 265 career NHL games, Leivo has 42 goals, 51 assists, and 93 points.
We will need to wait and see if Leivo ends up signing with the SHL club from here.
