Thomson, 23, is of course the most notable name of the bunch. The former top prospect was expected to emerge as a big part of the Senators' defense but now is free for the taking. Given his former first-round status, it sure seems possible that another team takes a flier on him. In 56 AHL games last season, he had 33 points.
As for Heatherington, Pilon, and Currie, they are AHL players who should pass through waivers without any trouble. Assuming they all clear, they will each be key parts of the Belleville Senators' roster in 2023-24.
Alas, all eyes will be on Thomson from here, as it seems quite possible that another team will take a shot on the 6-foot, right-shot defenseman.
