Panthers Rumors: Gustav Forsling Becoming Trade Candidate

In a recent article for The Athletic, Sean Gentille listed defenseman Gustav Forsling as the Florida Panther most likely to be traded before the deadline passes.

Gentille mentioned that the Panthers have fellow notable pending UFAs like Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour who need new contracts. Thus, if the Panthers find themselves out of the playoff picture near the deadline, Forsling could be a player that they part ways with.

Another reason why Forsling could be moved is because he is due for a significant raise next summer. He has improved immensely over the last few seasons and is a legitimate top-four defenseman. Thus, Florida could take advantage of his high trade value.

We will need to wait and see what the Panthers end up doing with Forsling from here. The possibility of keeping him for the season is certainly there, but we should not automatically assume for this to happen.
