Out of the names on this, the most notable is Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ty Smith. The 2018 first-round pick should generate some attention on the waiver wire, as he has good upside and is a former top prospect.

Rem Pitlick is another interesting name to see on the waiver wire. He was acquired by the Penguins earlier this offseason and was expected to compete for a bottom-six spot. However, he has not made the cut, and now teams around the league have the chance to claim him.

It was reported earlier that the Vancouver Canucks were looking to trade Spencer Martin before placing him on waivers. They were unable to find any takers, and now the depth goaltender can be claimed for free.
