Rangers Lose Ty Emberson Through Waiver Claim

The San Jose Sharks have claimed Ty Emberson off of waivers from the New York Rangers.

Emberson, 23, spent all of this past spent all of this past season with the Rangers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. In 69 games played for the AHL squad, the 6-foot-1 right-shot defenseman posted seven goals, 27 points, and a plus-17 rating.

With the Sharks having immensely weak depth on the right side of their defensive group, it makes sense that they are taking a chance on a young defenseman like Emberson. He should have a decent chance of landing a spot on their bottom pairing for the start of the season. With that, he is only 23 years, so he could be a nice fit for a Sharks team in the middle of what should be a long rebuild.

We will need to wait and see how well Emberson fits into the Sharks' system from here.
