Spencer Martin Claimed Off Waivers By Metro Team
The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed Spencer Martin off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks.
Martin, 28, appeared in 29 games last season for the Canucks, posting a 11-15-1 record, a .871 SV%, and a 3.99 GAA. Overall, he struggled pretty noticeably with the NHL squad, but now he will be hoping for the chance to turn things around with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24.
It is not too surprising to see the Blue Jackets bring in another goalie through waivers. Heading into the season, they currently have Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov as their two goalies. Both of them struggled mightily last year, so bringing in another potential backup option in Martin makes sense for the Blue Jackets.
We will now need to wait and see how much of an impact Martin makes for the Blue Jackets from here. Overall, there is no harm in Columbus taking a shot on him.
