Tanner Pearson Becoming Trade Candidate For Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have been very quiet this offseason, but things might start to pick up very soon. There have been reports that Tanner Pearson may very well be ready for the start of the season in Vancouver. If that is the case, they will be over the salary cap and have to trim some money in short order.

Pearson has one year left at $3.25 million AAV and while it won't cost a first round pick to dump him, it will still cost the team to move him off the books. Fortunately for the team, there is only one year left on his contract. There aren't that many teams willing to still take on players for assets, but the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, and San Jose Sharks should be three of them.

Pearson isn't a bad player and can be an extra veteran body in a lineup. There's no space and need for him anymore in Vancouver. I don't feel like he'd help the team more than hurt them, especially with the Canucks trying to win and signing certain players to fill holes in the lineup. Pearson only had one goal and five points in 14 games before being finished for the season in 2022-23.

The Canucks have fumbled Pearson's injury and it shouldn't have taken him this long to return anyways. It might be best for the two sides to part ways before he plays another game, even with new management having taken over.
