Vancouver Canucks Name Quinn Hughes Captain

The Vancouver Canucks have named star defenseman Quinn Hughes as their team captain.

There were plenty of rumblings that Hughes was set to become the team's new captain, and now it has officially come to fruition. When noting that he has been praised for his leadership skills, this is an entirely understandable decision from the Canucks.

The last player to be captain of the Canucks was center Bo Horvat. He wore the 'C' until his trade to the New York Islanders last season.

Hughes is one of the NHL's top defensemen, and he has become a huge part of the Canucks' core over the last few years because of it. Now, he will be the team's biggest leader moving forward, and it will be fun to see how well the team performs with him as their captain.

In 78 games last season for the Canucks, Hughes had seven goals, 69 assists, 76 points, and a plus-15 rating.
