Veteran Goaltender Anton Khudobin Finds New Home

Longtime NHL goaltender Anton Khudobin has found a new home, signing with Sokol Krasnoyarsk of the VHL, Russia's second-tier league.

This move likely marks the completion of Khudobin's NHL career. This is not too surprising, however, as Khudobin has made just 10 NHL appearances over the last two seasons. Furthermore, he played in just one game for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2022-23, allowing six goals on 23 shots.

Regardless of his struggles at the end of his NHL career, Khudobin proved to be a solid backup netminder for the vast majority of his career. He most notably helped the Stars go on a deep run during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoff due to his excellent goaltending. However, the Stars would fall just short in the Stanley Cup Final.

In 260 career NHL games split between the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Stars, and Blackhawks, Khudobin had a 114-92-33 record, a .916 save percentage, and a 2.52 goals-against average.
