Washington Capitals: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is rapidly approaching, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each teams' best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this latest edition of the series, let’s focus on the Washington Capitals.

Best Addition: Max Pacioretty

The Capitals have had a fairly quiet offseason, but they made an intriguing addition in Max Pacioretty. When healthy, he’s a quality top-six winger, but that has become a rarity in recent years. After two Achilles injuries last season, he will be looking to stay healthy with the Caps and be a key contributor.

Worst Subtraction: Conor Sheary

Conor Sheary’s time as a Capital came to an end this summer when he signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Although not a star, he was a solid middle-six winger for them, as he brought decent secondary scoring. Thus, his departure could be noticed in 2023-24.
