Zach Aston-Reese Signs PTO With Metro Team
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Zach Aston-Reese to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Aston-Reese is the seventh player whom the Hurricanes have signed to a PTO this summer. The other players who will be trying out for the Hurricanes at training camp are Kieffer Bellows, Cory Conacher, Jayden Halbgewachs, Brendan Perlini, Nick Shore, and Nathan Beaulieu.
Aston-Reese, 29, appeared in 77 games this past season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, posting 10 goals, 14 points, and 163 hits. Overall, he proved to be a decent fourth-liner for the Maple Leafs, as he provided solid defensive play and physicality.
When looking at the Hurricanes' lineup, it is clear that they could use another fourth-line option. Thus, it makes sense that they are taking a look at a player like Aston-Reese.
Aston-Reese will be hoping to earn himself a contract and be a part of the Hurricanes' bottom six in 2023-24. We will need to wait and see if he does just that from here.
