Blackhawks Make Decision With Kevin Korchinski
While speaking with reporters, Chicago Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson confirmed that defenseman Kevin Korchinski will be sticking with the NHL team for the season.
This is notable news, as the Blackhawks had the option to send Korchinski to junior so he would not burn the first season of his entry-level contract. However, the Blackhawks have been impressed with what they have seen from Korchinski, and now the youngster is staying put because of it.
Korchinski has appeared in nine games for the Blackhawks so far this season, where he has three assists to go along with a minus-8 rating. Although his plus/minus rating is not the greatest, it is important to remember that he is playing for a bad Blackhawks team right now. He has made a bit of an impact offensively, too, and he should improve as the year rolls on.
Alas, congrats to Korchinksi for earning his stay with the NHL club.
