Blackhawks Rumors: Andreas Athanasiou Becoming Trade Candidate

The Chicago Blackhawks are rebuilding and are likely to make several moves during this season because of it. After being healthy scratched by the team for their game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Andreas Athanasiou now could be a player to watch in trade talk.

Athanasiou signed a two-year, $8.5 million contract to stay with the Blackhawks, but this is certainly not how both the player and the team thought this deal would start. Athanasiou has struggled out of the gate, as he has three assists and a minus-2 rating in seven games played.

Although Athanasiou is having a tough start to the season, he is a pretty solid middle-six forward who would get attention on the trade market if officially shopped. He also had 20 goals and 40 points in 81 games last season in the Windy City.

We will need to wait and see if the Blackhawks end up moving Athanasiou from here.
