Boston Bruins Lose A.J. Greer Through Waivers
The Boston Bruins have lost some forward depth, as A.J. Greer has been claimed off waivers by the Calgary Flames.
Greer, 26, appeared in 61 games last season with the Bruins, where he had five goals and 12 points. He more notably provided plenty of grit to their lineup, as he had 101 hits and 114 penalty minutes. However, he was unable to land a spot on their roster for the start of the season. Now, he is heading to Calgary, where he should have a good chance of playing fourth-line minutes.
When noting that Greer carries a low cap hit and plays a heavy game, it seemed possible that he would find a home on the waiver wire. Now, that has officially come to fruition, and he fits the kind of player that the Flames like to have in the bottom portion of their lineup.
Overall, this is a low-risk move for the Flames. Let's see if Greer has a strong season with Calgary from here.
