Canadiens Rumors: 2 Potential Landing Spots for Cayden Primeau

Even after recently trading Casey DeSmith to the Vancouver Canucks, the Montreal Canadiens have a surplus of goalies. Cayden Primeau is eligible for waivers, so Montreal could look to move him, rather than potentially lose him for nothing. Thus, let’s discuss two potential landing spots for the young goaltender.

Colorado Avalanche: Pavel Francouz is expected to miss a decent amount of time to start the season, and the Colorado Avalanche have been looking to add a goalie because of it. Due to this, Primeau could certainly be a player they look at. He would give the Avalanche another decent goalie prospect, and he would fill in a need that the Avalanche have.

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Tampa Bay Lightning were dealt awful news when it was announced that Andrei Vasilevskiy would be out for the first two months of the season. This has since left the Lightning in a very difficult position to start the year, and they are naturally looking for a goalie because of it. As a result, it could make sense for the Lightning to make a push for Primeau. If he performed well, he could even be their backup once Vasilevskiy returns.
