Canucks Rumors: Conor Garland Wants Out of Vancouver

Big news coming out of Vancouver, as the Canucks have granted winger Conor Garland permission to seek a trade, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

Hearing that Garland has been given permission to look for a new home is not surprising. The speedy winger has been the subject of trade rumors for quite some time, and the Canucks have a surplus of wingers. Thus, it may be best for both parties to move on at this juncture.

Garland is coming off of a decent 2022-23 season, as he had 17 goals to go along with 46 points in 81 games. Overall, he has become a pretty consistent 45-to-50-point player, so there should be teams out there at least somewhat interested in him. Yet, the big issue is his $4.95 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season. That is where a move becomes challenging.

We will need to wait and see if Garland ends up getting traded soon. A change of scenery may be the best hting for the skilled winger.
