Colorado Avalanche Claim Ivan Prosvetov Off Waivers
We knew that the Colorado Avalanche have been looking for a goalie. Pavel Francouz is sidelined for the start of the year, and now they have found a replacement through the waiver wire. Instead of going with Martin Jones, the Avs have claimed Ivan Prosvetov off waivers from the Arizona Coyotes.
Prosvetov is a young goaltender who has made appearances with the Coyotes over each of the last three seasons. In 13 career NHL games over that time, he has put together a 4-6-1 record, a 4.07 goals-against average (GAA), and a .871 SV%. Overall, he has not had the best success at the NHL level, but he will now look to take advantage of the situation in front of him with the Avalanche.
Overall, Prosvetov has had some success at the American Hockey League (AHL) level, and now he will look to translate over some of it to the NHL. This is a classic low-risk move for the Avalanche, as they are taking a chance on a young goalie and did not need to part ways with a single asset to do so.
