Columbus Blue Jackets Make Decision With Aaron Dell

The Columbus Blue Jackets have released goaltender Aaron Dell from his professional tryout (PTO) contract.

Dell, 34, was aiming to take advantage of the Blue Jackets' weak goalie depth and earn a potential backup or third-string goalie role. However, with the Blue Jackets recently claiming Spencer Martin off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks, it makes sense that they have decided to move on from Dell.

Dell appeared in four games last season with the San Jose Sharks, posting a .913 SV% and a 2.71 GAA. He primarily was in the AHL with the San Jose Barracuda, sporting a .898 SV% and a 3.14 GAA in 38 games.

Dell will now be hoping to find a new home before the start of the season. Due to how close we are to the regular season, an AHL deal or a contract overseas may be what is next in store for the veteran goalie, if he chooses to play another season.
