Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Justin Danforth to Extension
The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Justin Danforth to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
Danforth, 30, was limited to only six games this past season with the Blue Jackets, where he had two goals and an assist. However, emerged as a decent secondary scorer for the Blue Jackets in 2021-22, as he had 10 goals and 14 points in 45 games.
Now that Danforth is healthy, he will be looking to make a big impact for the Blue Jackets this season. He is expected to slot in their bottom six and potentially see power-play time. This, in turn, could lead to a bit of an increase in production this campaign.
Overall, this move ensures that the Blue Jackets are keeping a solid part of their forward depth around and at an easily affordable price. We will need to wait and see what kind of season Danforth has for the Blue Jackets from here.
