NHL Insider Names A Major Threat To Sign Kane

Patrick Kane is still unsigned and it should stay that way for a few more weeks. When he is ready to play and ready to sign, there appears to be a few very interested suitors. On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman said, "There's still time to figure out who's good and who appeals to Patrick Kane, but I do think Dallas will be a contender for his services."

With $500,000 in cap space and a very balanced and strong top-nine already. The Stars would have to trade someone who makes at least $3-4 million in order to sign Kane, even if it's just for one season.

Kane finally saw a drop-off last season, but the Chicago Blackhawks also haven't been as bad of a team as they were for a long time. There were a lot of top players on the New York Rangers and Kane didn't have a lot of time to acclimate to the system and team. In 73 games last season he scored 21 goals and had 57 points. For someone that the Stars could sign for a decent cap hit if he wants to go to Dallas, this production would be welcomed. A few top-nine players have struggled to this point with Matt Duchene, Mason Marchment, and Evgeni Dadonov combining for one goal and one assist in 15 combined games.

Kane will have options, but none as good as Dallas if he wants another Stanley Cup.
