Detroit Red Wings: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction of 2023 Offseason

The 2023-24 regular season is rapidly approaching, much to the delight of hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHLTR are starting a series going over each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the summer.

In this latest episode of the series, let's focus our attention on the Detroit Red Wings.

Best Addition: Alex DeBrincat

The Red Wings made a massive addition when they acquired Alex DeBrincat from the Ottawa Senators. He will finally give Dylan Larkin, the opportunity to play with a fellow star. DeBrincat is now the team’s top sniper, and he should help their chances of making the playoffs significantly this year.

Worst Subtraction: Pius Suter

The Red Wings do not have too many notable departures this offseason. However, one player who they may end up missing is versatile forward Pius Suter. Although not a star, he proved to be a solid part of their roster last season. He was one of their key penalty killers and and fit nicely on all four of their forward lines.
