Devils Place Tomas Nosek On IR, Call Up Defenseman

We have some injury trouble in New Jersey, as the Devils have placed Tomas Nosek on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury. In a corresponding move, the Devils have called up Cal Foote to their NHL roster.

The Devils signed Nosek during the offseason, and he is expected to be a solid part of their bottom six and penalty kill. As a result, this injury news is not the greatest, but thankfully the Devils have the forward depth to replace him with relative ease.

Nosek, 31, spent last season with the Boston Bruins, where he had seven goals to go along with 18 points in 66 games played.

Foote was also added by the Devils during the offseason, but he failed to make the NHL roster out of training camp. However, the former first-round pick now has a good chance in front of him to show the Devils that he belongs there.

In 50 games last season split between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators, he had two goals, seven points, and a plus-6 rating.
